For the interesting idea, the treatment, the valid message and the humor quotient, give OKMK a shot. On the whole, OKMK is a worthy attempt as it eschews the commercial norms that are expected in today's cinema and still entertains for most of the way. One of the characters in the movie even remarks that they had to end the movie this way, so that the same story isn't shown yet again.
But towards the end, the movie loses steam and peters out in the climax. In the three timelines when the same story is repeated, with just a minute separating them, certain subtle differences are shown very well and make you smile. Raja Mohammed's edit patterns are interesting as the movie follows a non-linear structure. The songs are all used as little montage tracks but none of them stay in mind. The movie is supported by a pretty neat background score by Natarajan Sankaran which is groovy and also chuckle-worthy. Given that his next movie is with Vijay, the director has a little scene where his lead players pose as Vijay's personal team members. Chimbudeven's forte lies at humor (sometimes silly) and he exploits this aspect well. The director has to be commended for using so many actors in little but impactful parts. There are a plethora of other experienced actors like Nasser (as a caricatured dupe of Bappi Lahiri) as Hippy Lahiri, Delhi Ganesh, Mano Bala, VS Raghavan, Naren, MS Bhasker, Scissor Manohar, Crane Manohar, Jayaprakash and all of them have their moments. Looks like she would be typecast in all her future movies too (if any). Ashrita Shetty's role is an extension of the demure girl that she played in Udhayam NH4.
She also shows that she can do humorous scenes if prodded a bit.īagavathy Perumal (Bugs from NKPK) gets a similar role where he has to be stupid and mouth funny lines at the most inopportune moments. She sports the same costume for almost the entire movie, and has to partake in a lot of chase scenes. The role doesn't require him to do anything extraordinary but he is convincing and it even looks like he has worked on his voice.īindu Madhavi has to be appreciated for accepting this tomboyish kind of role, where she doesn't have any songs or a lead pair. The Gods are also prime players in this tale, laced with fantasy, humor and coated with some messages too.Īrulnithi, styled well, has come up with his best performance till date. Here he attempts to emphasize the importance of time and how even a single minute can alter the course of proceedings totally. Director Chimbudeven continues his tryst with unexplored themes and quirky treatment in his latest Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum.
